"Social media was always something that was very much hit and miss with our Instagram feed for Flint Cottage. Looking back, before this course, it is very clear now that our feed was somewhat lacking in know-how and direction.

"Having run a successful caravan holiday parks business for 20years in a destination seaside resort in the age BEFORE social media became dominant, I was hugely resistant to using or even learning about the new-fangled ways of today’s marketing world when it came to promoting our brand new rural cabin holidays business. However, after the realisation hit me that I had to dive in or fail miserably, I signed up for an online seminars course and discovered Katie from The Holiday Hive as one of the speakers. We made contact and discussed my predicament.  Katie is so knowledgeable and easy to talk to, and doesn’t make me feel like an old fossil, so she easily persuaded me not to delay further and to get enrolled in her Host Academy, as it would definitely help. 

 

Wow, what a learning experience. It has been a very enlightening 8 weeks! ( No learning curve …. Just a straight line upwards). I still have a LOT to learn through lots of trial and error, but I now have a very clear picture of what I actually need to put in place rather than guessing and wasting an enormous amount of time. I also have access to someone who will give me feedback and practical suggestions when I’m stumped. 

 

As a result of the program I have set up my own direct bookings website and linked up to a bookings management program, I’ve updated old listings with the major OTAs, I’ve got a clear idea about my target customer, I can create useful QR codes and design marketing tools to grow an email list from future guests. I now have active professional accounts with FB, Instagram & TikTok, and I’m formulating a real marketing plan for 2026/7. That feels significant."
